Resolution: The Superintendent recommends the following Resolution:

WHEREAS, on July 24, 2020, the Governor of the State of Illinois issued Executive Order No. 2020-47 allowing Illinois public and non-public schools serving prekindergarten through 12th grade students to open for in-person educational purposes while following Illinois Department of Public Health and Illinois State Board of Education guidance during Phase 4 and take proactive measures to ensure the safety of students, staff, and visitors; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Education has identified certain Board policies that require temporary amendment during any period when COVID-19 remains a threat to District employees, students, and families; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Education believes it is in the best interests of District employees, students, and families to amend Board Policies 720.07 (Student Welfare); 705.06 (Attendance); 500.21 (Personnel); 710.062 (Rights and Responsibilities – Student Conduct – Student Dress and Appearance); and 720.031 (Student Welfare – Health Services – Physical Exams and Immunizations) to reflect steps taken within District facilities to address COVID-19 concerns;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education amends the policies listed above and attached.
